About this Event
Hort is a studio and live musician, and publisher, with recent material charting in the “Top 100” nationally for college and independent stations. Hort has recent self-released music, featuring Grammy-winning contributors. Hort is recording and producing at Chicago’s Rax Trax and Gravity Studios. Hort performs regionally as a solo artist and with full band, including gallery events, music clubs, coffee shops, street festivals, private events and benefits, and on-air performances. Jasso is a singer/songwriter and illustrator from Chicago. Creator of the annual Lost Species Day songwriter showcase and benefit show, she is passionate about nature and supporting a planet that is inhabitable for all of life. The Superfrye sound was born out of flamenco, rockabilly and blues but has traveled as far as lounge, R&B, surf and disco. It’s outsider, outlaw, raw and real roots with soul, but at its core is the story. Her songs reflect the terroir of every place she’s been, every year she’s lived and are illustrated by lyrics about empowerment, rebellion, truth and freedom. The sound underpinning the stories she tells centers around a reverb drenched guitar in a vast catalog of originals and covers, constantly toying with the edges of emotion from passionately haunting to hilarious and fun. Jonathan Hannau is a Chicago-based composer and pianist devoted to the surreal, minimal, abstract, and colorful possibilities of music. He actively embraces eclecticism and explores concepts of narrative, drama, and stark expression by evoking a kaleidoscopic range of timbres.
